Concert Bands
The Concert Band (CB) is primarily made up of Freshmen. These students are registered in Concert Band 1.
The Symphonic Band (SB) is made up of Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors with selected Freshmen. These students are registered in Concert Band 2, 3 and 4 classes.
The Symphonic Wind Ensemble (WE), made up of Upperclassmen, is an advanced group of musicians. This class is only open to students who audition successfully.
Band 1, 2, 3, and 4
The band classes at Kalani is open to students who have successfully completed two years of band or 18 consecutive months of private instruction on the same instrument. Band 1, 2, 3 and 4 are not introductory class. Students must be able to demonstrate proficiency on their instrument as well as be able to read and understand music notation and symbols. Musical objective tests are given each quarter; in addition, students must also attend before an/or after school rehearsals and performances outside of the regular school day and perform in schedule concerts throughout the year. Students are placed in the appropriate ensemble upon audition for the band director.
Students are enrolled in the band class listed below as recommended by the band director.

Rehearsals are before school or after school to rehearse as a full section or full band.
All bands perform annually at our Winter Concert, Aloha Concert, Student Showcase Solo & Ensemble, Hawaii Music Festival and O.B.D.A Parade of Bands.
